that said, she doesn't leave entirely. she came for supplies. she's still going to get them, albeit away from him. ]
he can HEAR her footsteps. the clack of her heel growing distant. after a while, it feels like it's taunting him, deliberately. like an iron stake being hammered into his head each time it meets the tile.
she's hurting him on purpose. she said so herself. she said so. such rampant cruelty... he has to stop her.
YES, GOOD... his body is running on smoke and fumes, and yet it still forces itself up. she has to pay. MAKE HER PAY.
he shuffles past the cans already spilled across the floor. and with a grunt of exertion, proceeds to knock down an entire aisle of food on top of her.]
[ she expected him to lose it and stab her, she does not expect him to do THIS.
the shelf nearby manages to get stopped by her palms before it crushes her, but a single jar of pickles slides off the top shelf and beams her in the eyebrow, splitting it open to bleed freely down her face. ]
I left you, but this is a public space and supplies are needed!
[more foods are falling on her. at least this time it's bread.]

[ and as she's saying it, she's moving towards the exit. which is the entrance. it's a supermarket. it's just like that. she's leaving for real now though. ]
[when she finally leaves, he falls like a puppet with his strings cut - his knees hitting the ground alongside all the wasted food strewn across the ground. his chest heaves with each breath, burning. his head, aching.
what was he doing...? and why...
why couldn't he simply kill her, like a good and proper son?

her fist clutches over her heart as she recounts his words. a gift for their betrothed. she misses the dagger like she would miss an extremity suddenly.
if she were to be asked if she would do things differently, the answer would be yes, but it's a hollow answer for a hollow question. her path had ended, so of course she would choose another. but would a path exist that would lead him to suffer at her hands less?
she doesn't think so. there's no room in her heart to believe in destiny or fate, and miracles aren't something she can rely on.
